“Boxing is an outstanding form of physical exercise”

Boxing is outstanding for all round fitness. It helps to develop speed, strength, power, stamina, co-ordination, balance, and timing.

Boxing is challenging and intense and great for mental and physical well- being. Boxing remains extremely popular with clients helping to build a tangible sense of accomplishment and achievement.

Boxing training traditionally utilises pad work, bag work, skipping, developing footwork and defensive drills. You will experience a complete body workout that stresses the upper body and leg muscles, connective tissue, cardiovascular and nervous systems. Alongside this you will develop an increasing range of skills and abilities as you push yourself to new limits.

QOL Boxing with John Evans

John’s interest in boxing began as a teenager in Wales where he spent late nights and early mornings watching the likes of Hagler, Hearns, Leonard, and Holyfield. This inspired him to join his local amateur boxing club in south Wales.

He continued to participate in contests and regular sparring sessions on moving to London. On beginning a career in fitness John helped to establish a boxing fitness programme at a chain of London based fitness clubs. He has now been coaching boxing and boxing fitness classes for more than 25 years.  He has trained clients to participate in amateur and white -collar boxing.

John is accredited with British Boxing Board of Control as a boxing instructor after completing the respected Outbox qualification with former World Champion David Haye and his trainer Adam Booth. He also delivers boxing related courses to other fitness professionals.

One to One Boxing Training

Starting with an introduction to basic technique and stance, you will learn to throw straight punches like the jab and cross. From here you will develop the fundamentals of footwork, bag work and pad work.

John will guide and push you every step of the way as you begin to develop head movement and defensive drills. As you develop confidence and advance you will find yourself throwing hooks and uppercuts with bad intentions as you punish the pads with increasingly challenging combinations.

Classes for groups from 4 to 20 people

I walked into the gym 4 years ago, after accepting an offer to participate in a white-collar boxing match. Having not boxed for over 20 years and being out of shape I was looking for a trainer and was directed to John. He took me under his wing and trained me to a point, where I felt comfortable with stepping in the ring with a chap half my age who had been boxing very regularly. Suffice to say not only did I participate, but I also won the fight. I have continued to train with John ever since, especially knowing I may get the urge to do it again!
